A few weeks back, my husband and I had the pleasure of enjoying a staycation in D.C. at the Renaissance Dupont Circle Hotel in the city’s West End.  The Renaissance Hotels are very dear to our hearts as we first met at a Renaissance hotel, so we were excited to return. We were initially greeted by a very accommodating staff and a wonderful fruit and cheese welcome gift–with champagne to boot. After relaxing from our commute (two miles), we set off to Rasika, one of the city’s best Indian restaurant located directly across the street from the hotel! There are also a variety of dining options at the hotel and within walking distance including our favorites Firefly, Circa, and the West End Bistro.

Each morning, we started off the day with a fresh cup of Illy Coffee (attached directly to the hotel) and the hotel’s complimentary newspaper service. After a social media check in (very fast WiFi), we set off to explore the city. We walked and took in some of D.C.’s famous monuments and then head over to beautiful Georgetown for a scenic brunch followed by Sprinkle’s cupcakes (yes, they have a vegan flavor!). After our (vegan) sugar high dissipated, we went back to the hotel to relax and settled into their cozy and festive lobby.

The best part about exploring D.C. is that you don’t need a car (Sorry Uber). We walked EVERYWHERE and even took the metro to our favorite historic attractions like the Smithsonian Lincoln Memorial (we got engaged there!).

If you’re familiar with D.C., you may know that the city takes its fitness seriously (see here). With beautiful running paths (along Rock Creek Park and The National Mall) and amazing fitness classes (like Soul Cycle,  Down Dog Yoga, Solid Core, Elevate) steps away we took full advantage.

As Platinum Elite Marriott Reward member,  we enjoyed a convenient check-in and check-out procedures through our smart phones and complimentary WiFi at any Marriott location!  Overall, we had a wonderful stay at the Renaissance Dupont Circle Hotel and can’t wait to go back again.  Be sure to take advantage of their summer rates (15% off) if you’re looking for your very own staycation or to just visit!

A special thanks to Renaissance Dupont Circle Hotel for sponsoring this post.

Sara, I love your blog (& IG btw). I live in northern Virginia and might have to check this place out for a staycation or recommend when relatives are in town.
